Eau Claire’s’Rumble in the Jungle’ Snowshoe Race Honors Tim Dusick

Tim Dusick will be honored at the snowshoe race he helped create and directed, the ‘Rumble in the Jungle.’ The 2nd annual competition, scheduled for Saturday, February 9th at 11:00, was rejuvenated after Tim succumbed to cancer in January, 2008. Members of the Indianhead Track Club and friends overwhelmingly felt continuing this event would be a wonderful tribute to the spirit and drive of this warm, caring, beloved athlete and man.

Tim, a club member for 25 years and past president, was a major force in the development running and snowshoeing in the area. The popular annual July race held in Eau Claire, the Water Street Mile, was one of the creations during his reign. He had acted as Race Director, even while suffering this disease, for the 2007 edition of the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ snowshoe race which was selected as one of the United States Snowshoe Association 21 National Qualifying Races leading to the USSSA National Championship.

The race is held in conjunction with the Valley Silent Sports EXPO, Eau Claire County Expo Center, 5530 Fairview Drive. The EXPO features bikes, snowshoes, skis, canoes, and burleys as a few of the items exhibited for sale.

The race will be held on five miles of single track trails through scenic wooded rolling hills and Lowes Creek Park. Registration online at: http://www.chippewavalleysports.com.

Snowshoe rental reservations are available by contacting Northern Safari at 715.833.1942.

Awards are to 3rd place in six classes. Overall male and female winners will receive beautiful Artisan Metal Sculptures.

A children’s race will be held at 10:45, just prior to the main race. Each child participant will be awarded a medal.

Event sponsors are: Northern Safarai Army Navy, the ‘Y’ of Eau Claire, Swiss Miss, Action City, Mark Blaskey Metal Studio LLC, Chippewa Valley the unexpected Wisconsin, and the Eau Claire County Parks and Forests.
