Layer-Up, Ladies! Hit the Trails with Under Armour Tops and Bottoms

Looking for ways to combat the cold while hoofin’ it on the trails? Start with the right layering system that traps warm air in. The Under Armour ColdGear Extreme Top, (retails for $69.99) is a nice addition to any snowshoer or outdoor enthusiast’s wardrobe.

That’s because this line’s moisture-wicking abilities actually work. Plus, the tight weave cuts wind more than you might think.  With chilly winds whipping around the trail, I felt toasty warm wearing just this item. But on frigid days, used as a base layer, it’s an ideal item. The label clearly says “snug fit.” But since it’s a non-compression design, it felt more comfortable than most. Though some may not like a snug fit, the design is nothing like a traditional Under Armour thin skin that hugs your body like an over- zealous lover.

Sizing is true. As a tall person, I was surprised at the generous length in the trunk. Though I would have preferred a large, a medium did the job. Unlike other fitness brands geared toward the anorexic, the Under Armour fit was accommodating and comfortable.

Fight-off Winter’s offensive cold breath, with a pair of Under Armour ColdGear Extreme Pants ($69.99). Also in Under Armour’s “fitted” category of clothing, the pants make the trail a little less intimidating from gusting winds. But if a snug fit isn’t your style, opt for the bottoms labeled “semi-fitted” or “loose” bottoms instead.

Take on the trail with just these pants or throw on another wind breaking top layer for added protection. Like the Extreme Top, these bottoms also wick away moisture. I would even throw these bad boys on to brace the grocery store on a blustery day in February. Ample length made the pants even more likable for us tall people.

Would I recommend the Under Armour Cold Gear line?  Yes. I give both these items thumbs up for trail use.
