Hit the Dirt at GTTRR 2011

Snow is finally melting faster than it's falling, but that doesn't mean you have to wait until next winter to get your trail on. If you are up for an unforgettable adventure, trade snowshoes for trail runners and head to the hills this August 21–26 for the GORE-TEX TransRockies Run. Runners choose from either the T3, a three day solo option, or tackle the six-day, 120-mile stage race in teams of two.


Mardi Gras Came Early at the 19th Annual Mother of all Ascensions

On Tuesday, March 8, more than 150 racers gathered at Base Camp Bar & Grill in Snowmass Village, Colo., for the start of the 19th Mother of all Ascensions. The race course takes participants up green and blue ski runs, gaining 2,073 vertical feet in just under two miles, and finishes at Gwyn's High Alpine restaurant (elevation 10,465).


Athletes Vie for Big Prizes at the Jeremy Wright North American Snowshoe Championships and Dogma Athletica Snowshoe Series Cup

Not only did the 350+ participants in the Jeremy Wright North American Snowshoe Championships have to contend with burning lungs while running at 10,000 feet through McCoy Park in Beaver Creek, Colo., they also had to navigate several inches of fresh snow. But they were racing for a good cause and great prizes, and the wintry weather didn't dampen spirits or attendance. The sixth annual event was run in honor of Vail athlete and snowshoer, Jeremy Wright, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
