Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Review

I was totally surprised when the boots arrived. We had no snow or very little so I put them on and wore them around the house for a week. They felt very nice lots of support. Then we had a little snow storm so I took a walk up my hill; I was impressed going up the hill on how comfortable and even more impressed coming down on the icy and spots of packed snow, I did not slip once. Then, we finally g...

Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Review

My husband and I were lucky enough to have the right shoe size to both receive a pair of the Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots. First, my husband usually has to get a wide shoe but because of the silver lining to keep your feet warm he opted to try them with thin socks and did not have any cold feet after a day of snowshoeing. We live in New Hampshire and along with close to 2 feet of snow ca...

My Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Experience

I have lupus and scleroderma, both connective tissue disorders related to rheumatoid arthritis. For the sake of this review, I'll just say it means that I need gear that keeps me warm, dry and comfortable. So I jumped at the chance to test drive Columbia's new Bugatech boots with the Omni-Heat thermal lining technology.I first noticed the lightness of the boots. It was a tight squeeze to get the b...

Traveling to Quebec City with the KEEN Anchorage Boots

If you enjoy the outdoors and travel often, get your hands on a pair of KEEN Anchorage boots.  In a “high-security world,” having a pair of boots that easily slip on and off at the airport is a requirement.  In my experience, I was able to wear the KEEN Anchorage boots on a plane to Quebec City and then use them the next day during a quick snowshoe hike.  My plans were to use the boots only on plane flights and casual dress situations – and they are perfect for that – but they performed flawlessly in snowshoes.  The boots did more than I expected, including keeping my feet dry and warm while steeped in pristine Canadian snow.

My Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Experience

The first time I ever snowshoed in my Atlas snowshoes on 12/2/2010 I used these Columbia boots graciously provided by Columbia and Snowshoe Magazine. Most women's boots aren't wide enough so I asked to try a men's pair and it worked out perfectly. The boots didn't pinch the sides of my feet.I couldn't wait to get out and try snowshoeing! I was somewhat skeptical at how warm they could be but was e...

My Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Experience

I've had my ups and downs with winter boots whether due to the enormous shape of the boot, poor insulation, moisture or just the general construction of the boot failing at the seams. When hearing about this boot I thought, hmm, another boot that “might” work. Upon receiving the boots I was impressed, they felt and appeared durable and true to the description. I couldn't help but wear them that da...

The SCARPA Kailash GTX Boots Reflect a Rich History of Craftsmanship and Durability

SCARPA is a rare company.  It has a history that most boot manufacturers don't have: It originated in northern Italy, it's family-owned, and focuses purely on crafting the best boots for mountaineering.  I'd have to agree.  I have a personal history that reflects SCARPA's quality and reputation.  My father bought me a pair of SCARPAs – as my first pair of hiking boots – back in the late 80s.  They were a simple leather boot with a sturdy sole and offered padded ankle support.  I remember waterproofing the boots with beeswax and worked hard to break-in the boots before a long hike.  SCARPA has come a long way in the construction of its boots.

Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Blog and Review

When Snowshoe Magazine offered its readers to demo Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni Heat Boots, I jumped at the chance. Snowshoeing isn't normally thought of as an urban sport, but there are a lot great places in Chicago and it's surrounding areas to get outside, that don't require hours in the car. Chicago has a great lakefront, city golf courses and parks that provide a different snowshoe scene. I lo...

My Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Review

In the past, I hated winter. I despised the cold air, the snow, the feeling of my whole body seeking warmth to counter the chills that ran through from head to toe. The irony of my reality is that I live in Winnipeg, commonly referred to as “Winterpeg,” due to the harsh cold temperatures, heavy snowfall, and blowing winds that often combine for some of the harshest winter conditions in Canada.Last...

A Snowshoeing Experience: Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots

The first time I got out to snowshoe wasn't until Dec. 12 and it just so happened to be during a crazy snowstorm. The high for that day was 19 degrees and the low was 8. I have no clue what the wind-chill was, but it sure was cold and blowing like mad.It had been snowing for a few days and we got an additional 12.3 inches on this particular day. Last year, I bought a pair of Columbia boots and end...

Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots and Snowshoeing

I will be honest when I first received and wore the boots I had my druthers, the fit was good but they were probably some of the stiffest boots I'd ever tried on. The first day they actually made my legs sore, but I know that boots must sometimes be broke in and that takes a bit. After a few days of wear, the boots were comfy and kept my feet very dry which is awesome because wet feet are a big pe...

Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat Boots Blog and Review

I am so glad I wear a size 7 and even luckier that they fit. My box arrived on my doorstep. Picking it up I thought it could not be the Bugatech boots because the box weighed nothing. These boots are lighter than my running shoes. Loved the look however, I thought it strange to have a white boot. Once I got them on and I might add it was a little hard because of the lacing all the way up, they wer...
