Gear Review: Nannini Mountain Sunglasses

This is the season of sunglasses.  First, Snowshoemag received advertising support from HaberVision and then Nannini wanted me to review some of their products.  Although I’ve been reviewing HaberVision’s products, I had to give some other sunglasses and goggles a try.  What I found was that Nannini develops a solid product, a stylish product and manufactures several pairs of sunglasses that fit my gigantic noggin.  For snowshoeing, Nannini’s Mountain specs are a genuine must for the upcoming season.

Esprit Mountain Sunglasses

The Esprit specs are great for all sports (especially for hunting, if you’re into that).  What really impressed me was their color: polished orange and gray.  Just like Snowshoemag’s colors!  Killer!  Okay, so vanity is a big part of my review.

The Esprits boast polycarbonate lenses that have a silver mirror finish and have a variety of tints.  Of course, my lenses are tinted orange.  More vanity…sorry.  Did I mention the Esprits are available in four colors?

Nonetheless, having the Esprits in my pack and ready for the trail proved to be the smart choice.  Several people asked what I was wearing (like I was at the Oscars or something).  I would of course reply, “Nannini Esprit.”  Most responses would be in the form of a question: “Nanny?” “Ninni?” “Gnarly?”

Then I would explain, “No, Nannini – the award-winning Italian designer.”  More vanity…sorry.

Esprit features:
• 100% UV protection
• High-tech materials that resist impact and breakage
• Adjustable temple length for a perfect fit
• Multi-flow ventilation
• Semi-rigid belt case included

Snowfighter Mountain Sunglasses

I looked a bit goofy in the Snowfighters.  Vanity gone.  But I liked the Snowfighters for how they fit me like a goggle but didn’t have the bulkiness of a goggle.  Does that make sense?  Most goggles are manufactured for skiing.  And they are generally always bulky, which means less room in your pack for things you really need for the trail.

The Snowfighters have hand-sewn eyepieces and an orange and silver mirrored polycarbonate lens.  When wearing them, I look like a character out of the movie Mad Max.  But I don’t care – my eyes are protected and my face is certainly warmer.  My advice to you is to try these out!  Not a bad day on the trail with a pair of Snowfighters.

Snowfighter features:
• 100% UV protection
• High-tech materials that resist impact and breakage
• “Antifog” ventilation
• Available in four colors

Discovery Mountain Sunglasses

I used the Discoverys more for an “everyday” pair of sunglasses.  They are comfortable, durable (I accidentally sat on them and they are fine) and they are stylish.  Vanity is back.

The Discoverys have polycarbonate dark brown lenses that provide protection in any high-luminosity situation.  According to Nannini, these glasses feature a double mirror finish to fight glare and filter 98% of blue light to reduce color distortion and blurriness.

Discover features:
• 100% UV protection
• High-tech materials that resist impact and breakage
• Adjustable temple length for a perfect fit
• Multi-flow ventilation
• Dual frame for protection in a range of conditions
• Available in three colors
• Semi-rigid belt case included
